Aiming to reach net-zero emissions by 2050, the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) of Chinese Taipei has been actively promoting the development of offshore wind power with a 3-phase strategy, including a Demonstration Incentive Program, Zones of Potential, and Zonal Development. To date, Phase 1 wind farms with a total capacity of 237 MW have been completed, and Phase 2 wind farms with a total capacity of 5.5 GW are expected to be commissioned by 2025. Phase 3 was launched with the aim to release 1.5GW annually from 2026 to 2035, totaling a capacity of 15 GW, to expand the domestic market, and promote the sustainable development of the offshore wind industry in the region.

In this session, the Bureau of Energy, MOEA of Chinese Taipei, will present an overview of offshore wind development in the region, including goals, policies, status, and future plans.
